Tudor helped participants learn that measuring the impacts of what and how you communicate is a fundamental aspect of professional credibility, employment longevity and peace of mind that you contribute value. Measurement is a core component of your communication plan. As the tools and tactics of communication change so do the measurement strategies. This is especially true with increasing use of social media and the importance of sharing and collaboration with our internal and external audiences. In this workshop participants learned:
- How to integrate practical measurement strategies into the communication plan
- How to design and implement measurement strategies
- How to apply measurement strategies to the use of social networking media

Tudor and Ryan jointly presented this 90 minute presentation at the Renaissance Hotel Vancouver. They asked "Are communicators ready to incorporate the use of social media in our communication strategies? Do we see ourselves as leaders and implementers of social media?"
In the past year, TWI Surveys has conducted a number of research studies on the use of social media. The objective was to explore how engaged communicators are in the planning and use of social media. In this session, Ryan and Tudor Williams share the findings and present the implications for the future of communications. Participants learned:
- The extent to which communicators are aware of and prepared for the impacts of social media
- Where the use of social media fits into communication strategies
- How communicators measure the outcomes and impacts of social media on business results
- The role communicators see for themselves in the evolution of social media in their organizations

Ryan and Tudor traveled across Canada and ended with a presentation in New York this spring. They conducted a series of surveys that explored the use of social media by corporate communicators. This presentation sets the demographic stage that communication channels are changing and we need to plan for this change. You can see more about this topic in an article they co wrote in Communication World that was published in June 2008. Tudor makes a strong case for planning and Ryan makes the case for need to adopt a people focused leadership philosophy to communicate in this emerging medium.

Almost two thirds of IABC members surveyed by twisurveys Inc. in August 2006 say they receive too much email. Over a third of members said that this overload impacts negatively on their productivity. How bad is the problem? What are the principal sources of the problem? Does a Blackberry help or make the problem worse? And are there solutions?
This session with Tudor Williams and Ryan Williams unveils what IABC members around the world feel about email overload and what should be done to solve the problems information overload creates.

Successful communication strategies need a communication plan focused on results. The plan describes what you are committed to communicating, why, to whom and how. It should define the tactics you will implement; when and how much your plan will cost and the measures of success.
In this teleseminar hosted by the International Association of Business Communicators, Tudor Williams teaches how to write a strategic plan from research and strategy to evaluation. For more information, visit the IABC Website.
